
Technical Work Preparation Engineer
Join Alfen as a Technical Work Preparation Engineer! Play a key role in preparing, detailing, and optimizing mechanical design and installation projects. Contribute to innovative solutions and ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and with technical feasibility.
What will you do?
As a Technical Work Preparation Engineer, you are the link between Engineering, Procurement, and the Installation Team. You make sure all required information, materials, and documents are available on time and in the right way, so our projects run smoothly and meet the highest quality and safety standards.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Analysing sales offers, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Translating technical and commercial project information into clear work packages.
- Preparing BOMs, work instructions, task lists, and assembly steps.
- Reviewing engineering documents and translating them into practical feasibility.
- Determining the right materials based on mechanical and electrical requirements.
- Monitoring delivery times and identifying deviations or risks.
- Creating mechanical designs and sketches for cable frames and support structures.
- Coordinating material orders and external services with suppliers.
- Supporting teams in solving technical issues and acting as a troubleshooter on site.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and relevant standards and legislation.
- Documenting projects, deviations, and lessons learned, and contributing to process optimization (LEAN).
What do we ask of you?
We are looking for a precise and proactive professional with a hands-on mentality and a strong sense of responsibility. You have an eye for quality and enjoy working together to achieve results. Additionally, you bring:
- MBO+/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
- Experience in technical work preparation, engineering, or project execution.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (2D/3D).
- Strong technical insight in mechanics, electricity, and installations.
- Experience with ERP/PLM systems for material management and work orders.
- Ability to create technical sketches and quickly translate designs into BOMs.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English (German is a plus).
- VCA VOL certificate or willingness to obtain it.
- Affinity with improvement processes (preferably LEAN).
